If you search for shawl/wrap patterns on Ravelry Wingspan by maylin Tri'Coterie Designs will be among the Top 10 with over 10'000 projects. There are also quite a few variations and adaptaions
of it (as you can see on this Pinterest board).
Some time ago, I received and email from the Designer (maylin from Tricot Treat) with a gift of all her patterns. At the time I was really touched by this gift, because it was so unexpected.
And this morning, I found another receipt email from Ravelry in my inbox - with another pattern gift, her new pattern: a swing knitting version of Wingspan called Rigoles. Again, I am surprised and I honestly think, that it's a lovely, lovely present by a very gifted designer. Thank you so much!
I downloaded it. The pattern is written with much attention to detail, many illustrations and photos, plus there are some diffent versions included.
Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of a finished shawl, but there are some really nice ones on the Ravelry pattern page of Rigoles. I can only show a screenshot of the pattern's thumbnail.
P.S.: Three years ago, when I published the Mixed Wave patterns (cowl and fingerless gloves), I tried to do a wavy (or swingy) version of Wingspan as well. But at that time doing short rows within short rows was a bit to much for me - so I frogged it ... and I haven't tried it since :)

Links from Italy
Spam folders can be cruel. I only just found out that some of my patterns were being linked from a yarn store site in Italy. They had sent me an e-mail, that was stuck in my spam folder for a few days.
They have linked to two of my designs - Circle Mitts (or Guanti ai ferri Circle) and Helix Mitts (or Guanti ai ferri Helix) - and I do like the way they write about my designs ... very flattering :)

Another Short Row Interpretation
I've always wanted to knit the beautiful Summit shawl by Mandy Harrington. I've tried it a few years ago when I rediscovered knitting, but at that time my attempts looked rather sad and were soon frogged. But I still kept the pattern in my queue, because I'm still planning to knit it one time.
Curiously enough, I never thought of it as a short row pattern - even though I do like short rows very much. That changed when I saw a wonderful picture on Pinterest to the machine knitting blog alessandrina.com. In her post "Wisteria 2" she explains a similar pattern (for machine knitting) in terms of short rows.
That got me thinking - especially since I was looking for ideas how to use the sock yarn that I bought last week ... and eventually I started a crescent scarf with short row "holes" (i.e. non-wrapped short rows).
As always, I'm not sure whether it the effect (shape, topology and yarn) will work, but I'll continue for a bit.

Waves
Ever since I saw some "swing knitting" projects on ravelry, I wanted to make something like that myself. I managed to start something similar yesterday. It's basically constructed of short rows ...
Though I am pleased with the result, it doesn't look quite as "organical" as I would have liked it. Furthermore, I made a few mistakes so that the pattern is not really regular. But for a prototype (and something I have figured out without a written pattern), it's OK.

Ten Stitches
Trying to do something else with the brilliant ten-stitch blanket or ten-stitch scarf pattern.
My original idea was to form the cuffs for fingerless gloves in this pattern, than join it in a round and pick up the stitches for the rest of the glove, but somehow it didn't really work out.
Here's a video showing how to knit an enhanced version of the ten-stitch blanket - in German.

Chains
By chance I found this video where a cable chain ("trenza cadena") is explained. Even though it's in spanish it's easy to follow.
I changed it slightly (basically throwing in a few purl stitches) to knit another pair of fingerless gloves.
